Reviews

The Bellegrave is a distinctly mid-weight, perfumed Pomerol built on aromatic presence and mid-weight structure. Sweet red berries, wild flowers, mint and blood orange are all given a good bit of freshness from the Cabernet Franc.

75% Merlot & 25% Cabernet Franc grape blend.
This wine contains allergens, sulfites.
The Estate

Situated in the Northwest section of the commune of Pomerol, Chateau Bellegrave is seven hectare of gravelly, sandy soils with only small amounts of the coveted rich clay. The result is a softer, more elegant, feminine Pomerol with great finesse, rather than a blockbuster, according to owner Jean-Marc Bouldy

Wine Making

The Chateau Bellegrave vineyard covers 8.5 hectares of vines. It is located in the southwest of the Pomerol appellation. Chateau Bellegrave is planted with 75% Merlot, supplemented by 25% Cabernet Franc. In 2001, Jean-Marie Bouldy began an informal conversion to organic viticulture. In 2009, the Chateau Bellegrave vineyard fully converted to organic farming with the ECOCERT certification.

Adrian van Velsen – 92

"Intense, very fruity nose, wonderful cherry fruit, spicy notes, florality, exciting, changing, very nice to smell. Silky soft on the palate, very rich fruit, more cherries, plus blackberries and blueberries, finest tannins, very well integrated acidity. Very nice finish, lots of spice and aromatic length. A classic Pomerol, precise, rich in finesse, with power and elegance."
